Why do people hate ixl

The website is buggy and needs to have downtime a lot, they also have very poorly designed questions and assume too much about the ability of the students. They have very stupid answers, and they don't except anyother answer choice but their's. Find the sale price. Subtract the discount from the original price. You can see how absurd their software and how shabby it is compared to sites like Khan Academy that actually teach you things before testing on them.

This is solely used as a practice tool, but then the quesions and answers are subject to scrutiny and rage, frustration from the users, and there the breed a hate for all things math. This is not right, don't buy this scam of a website and fed the horrid, nefarious monster it has grown to be. Engaging tool that provides excellent review on math skills! Kaily K. I am in fourth grade, and my teacher makes me get the smartscore to I have Attention Deficit Disorder and am not great at math, so it is hard to finish each lesson.

I am truly sorry, and I hope everyone in the district and school has a safe and happy life! I am so sick and tired of my sister and I use this. The teachers need to learn that this is the worst platform for a child to learn on. It lowers their self-esteem and in some cases lowers their grade. One of my peers uses this and has been trying to make a point towards my teacher. I would like the point system to be gone or I will find a way to get my whole district to stop using this platform all together.

Ixl is the dumbest thing ever. We do it in math and its just stupid. I especially hate the point system. I feel bad for the people in Preschool who have to do this trash. I looked at recent reviews and it actually makes students less engaged in the lesson IXL has to offer. Also, I found that some of the lessons make you assume genders. This can be resolved by just getting rid of IXL from public education in all the states of the U. We must get rid of this IXL website for the good of us students.

I am am 6th grader that currently is assigned to IXL for math and its terrible. This is the worst website ever. This app is horrible, it causes more stress than good.

We get around 50 questions a lesson and about lessons a day. Please teachers if your reading this, make your students do something else. IXL is The Worst! Like What! This app sucks. Point is, it is VERY stressful. The app causes kids to stress, and spark autistic…. The are both a mess when she get one wrong.

It take forever to get through it and there are always, always tears. Her teacher way over assigns it. Kids have enough anxiety and stress right now. IXL is digital hell. Learning tool? More like a toture and sucuide tool. Close Menu. News In The Middle — M. It does NOT deserve positive reviews. I am assigned IXL homework in algebra and you barely get any points if you get the answer right and deducts a lot of points when you get just one wrong.

I also know that when you get an answer wrong, the website gives you the right answer and explains how you messed up but it never applies to what you are actually learning to do. This website should not be used as an advanced learning tool, it is more like a mini torture device.

It might be ok for small children but for the rest of us we all understand how badly your self-esteem can be crushed by something as simple as a website. Teen, 13 years old Written by ckaykay February 2, As a student who uses IXL every day, this review is the honest truth. I find it a waste of my time. This website is making teachers not teach.

Where did real teaching go? Also, it makes me feel dumb. If I make a mistake my score goes down by 10 points. Everyone makes mistakes, so why is it fair to punish a mistake?

Don't buy this, waste of your money, buy your kid a new toy instead of this junk. Teen, 17 years old Written by mathlover July 7, Teen, 14 years old Written by frustrated student May 12, Stuff I don't even want to write down! Please, have your kids be happy and not dread IXL. Some people just skip it in my class.

Teen, 14 years old Written by Arabella September 17, Kid, 12 years old February 24, If you get 1 question wrong, you go down by about 12 points.

If you get one right, you only go up a couple of points. Helped me decide 8. Teen, 13 years old Written by Poob March 1, Do I even have to explain why? I slaved all day to get 7 lessons done. Each one took an hour each. This is how it goes: Get up to 79 points our teacher only makes us go to 80 accidently forget a negative, back to More like a dumbscore to me. Had useful details 7. Kid, 11 years old December 12, Who's idea was this exactly?? First of all, I think that IXL, is the worst site ever created.

My teacher gives us lessons daily, and it's pure torture. Shouldn't this be illegal because it is considered child abuse? And I mean horrible. Get a question right? Oh well just go up points. Get ONE wrong? Oh sorry, we have to torture you and make you go down points. So say you were at 99 points, about to finish the whole lesson, oops last question wrong. You're like back to 81 points!

In that amount of time, I could be done with all of my homework and just relax. Nope IXL has to be done. You could also learn and master so many other skills!

I think the point system could definitely be changed. The teacher keeps telling me, if anyone stays on the skill for more than one hour, please see me before or after school for extra help. Not everyone could attend that; if you didn't know? If you read all this, thanks.
